Teaching in English

An international language par excellence, English is the main lingua franca in the scientific and technical worlds. It is therefore natural that the School of Engineering and Computer Science pays particular attention to the learning of this language by its students.

Training in English is integrated each year in various forms to lead you progressively to its mastery. You will first learn to read and listen to scientific and technical texts, then to write and speak on these subjects.

English in your curriculum

At the beginning of the first cycle in Engineering Sciences, English classes are organized in small groups to review basic grammar, analyze scientific texts and discuss themes specific to this training. Progressively, the development of English skills is ensured through the integration of this language into the scientific and technical courses themselves. Initially limited to recommended readings in English, this integration gradually continues through the use of reference books or oral course materials written in English, documentary research in English, the introduction of lectures or videos and then ex cathedra courses given entirely in English.

In Computer Science, English also plays a key role. The Basic English for computing, Computing English and Advanced English for ICT studies courses offered at the bachelor's level are directly oriented towards technical English, adapted to computing.

Afterwards, you are encouraged to present and/or write your work, internship reports and thesis in English. To complete your English language training at the School of Engineering and Computer Science, you are encouraged to take an internationally recognized test such as the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) at the end of your first cycle.

In addition to the recognition provided by passing such exams and the possibility of situating your knowledge in relation to the Common European Framework of Reference, the corresponding certificates are required by English and American universities and also open the doors to many other universities around the world. It is therefore a necessary condition for student mobility, which allows the ultimate form of foreign language training through language immersion and the discovery of other cultures.

Follow a program in English

All other master's programs also include a significant number of courses taught in English. In this way, all students are ideally prepared to, firstly, take advantage of mobility programs and, secondly, to evolve in an international professional environment.
