ULiège joins the EURECOM Consortium

The School of Engineering, and more particularly its Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) department, has joined the Consortium organized around the French engineering school EURECOM located in the Science Park of Sophia Antipolis ("Telecom Valley"). A partnership that will offer mobility to many students but also bring together high-level researchers in the framework of research projects.

Since January, the Montefiore Institute of the School of Engineering, through its EECS department, has joined the consortium organised around EURECOM, a French engineering school, 70% of whose students are international, and a research centre that develops projects around themes related to computer networks, telecommunications, cybersecurity and data science. EURECOM's strategy is to invite one university per country, specialised in its fields of expertise. For Belgium, the University of Liège has been chosen because of the significant overlap between the themes of the two institutions and the fields of excellence of the EECS department.

This partnership will benefit the students, as it will allow the organisation of numerous exchanges (from 6 months to 1 year). Our students will be able to benefit from a specialised network," explains Prof. Guy Leduc, chairman of the ULiège department, "this will offer new course opportunities, including internships and master theses, for students enrolled in master’s degrees in computer science and engineering, in data science and engineering, in electrical engineering, in computer science, and in data science. »

Membership of the EURECOM Consortium will also enable the consolidation of more systematic collaborations with the consortium's academic and industrial partners.  ULiège will also be able to take advantage of this membership to recruit high-level researchers for its research projects, supervise doctoral theses under joint supervision, and share mutual scientific expertise.

ULiège is thus a member of a club of leading European universities constituting the EURECOM Consortium: Institut Mines-Telecom (composed of numerous French engineering schools including Télécom Paris, Télécom SudParis, etc.), Politecnico di Torino, Aalto University (Helsinki University of Technology), Technische Universität Munchen (TUM), Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Chalmers University of Technology, Czech Technical University - CTU (Prague Technical University), Technische Universität Wien (TU Wien), and ITMO University (St-Petersburg).
